Celebration of the seventh edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World in Ghana

The seventh edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World was celebrated in Ghana, with the events dubbed "Gusto Italiano- Italian Taste", on November 15th, at the Residence of the Italian Ambassador, and "Italian Street Food Festival", on November 16th, at the Labadi Beach hotel. These events were organized by the Embassy of Italy in Accra and the local Italian Trade Agency Office, in order to promote Italian excellence in wine production and in the agri-food chain. The opening evening registered a strong interest from the Ghanaian institutions as it was attended by the Minister of Works and Housing, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Thomas Mbomba, the Deputy Ministers of Trade and Industry, Hon. Herbert Krapa and Hon. Dokua Asiemah-Adjei, as well as the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Mark Okraku-Mantey.

The Ambassador of Italy in Accra, Daniela d'Orlandi, highlighted the richness and variety of the Italian food and wine heritage, in the name of conviviality, food sustainability and innovation, and took the opportunity to promote Rome's candidacy to host the Universal Exposition in 2030. The Italian Trade Commissioner in Ghana, Alessandro Gerbino, highlighted Italy's world leadership in wine production and export as well as the variety of the production of Italian regions.

A tasting of some of the most renowned Italian wines followed, in collaboration with the main importers of Italian wine in Ghana and several Italian wineries from Emilia Romagna, Marche, Piedmont, Puglia, Tuscany, Veneto: from Brunello di Montalcino to Barolo and Barbaresco, from Amarone della Valpolicella to Negroamaro Salento, from Monte Tondo to Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi. Chefs Pietro Elia Bulgari and Carmelo Maurizio Sapone also delighted the palate of the guests, along with some local chefs. A total of 15 partners from the wine, catering and hospitality sectors contributed to the events.

The Week of Italian Cuisine in Ghana was attended by prominent Ghanaian and Italian entrepreneurs, representatives of local society and Authorities, Ambassadors and numerous members of the media, from newspapers to TV and local influencers, who contributed to extend the outreach of the promotional message to an even wider audience.
