Welcome to the website of the Embassy of Italy in Accra, where you will find information regarding the Italian institutional presence in Ghana and Togo and our services to the public.
I would like to give you a brief overview of the bilateral relations with the two countries.
Due to the presence of an active Italian community, Italy and Ghana have deep and rooted relationships, which have significantly intensified in recent years. Political dialogue culminated in April 2024 with the State Visit of President Sergio Mattarella. Trade exchange has reached record levels, and Ghana has become one of the priority countries for our development cooperation, in a partnership for growth – the same that drives the Mattei Plan for Africa. Cooperation in the fight against piracy and terrorism has also been strengthened, at bilateral, multilateral, and European levels, aimed at stabilizing the Region.
Togo also represents a fundamental partner for Italy, thanks to the excellent bilateral relations and the crucial role played by the country in terms of maritime security and the fight against terrorism.
Building on these solid foundations, under my leadership the Embassy of Italy in collaboration with the Sistema Italia, will continue to work towards further strengthening relations with Ghana and Togo.
