The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), in collaboration with the University of Rome “Foro Italico”, has launched the second edition of the scholarship programme “Italy Runs Towards the Future.”
The programme is open to young student-athletes from Angola, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda who wish to enroll in the Master’s Degree programme in Sport Sciences and Techniques or Sport Management at the University of Rome “Foro Italico”.
For the 2026–2027 academic year, 20 scholarships will be awarded (including 2 reserved for Angolan students). Each scholarship is worth €9,000 and covers a period of 9 months, starting on 1 October 2026. Scholarship recipients may apply for renewal for the second year of study, provided they have earned at least 36 university credits (CFU) by 30 September 2027.
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Demonstrate Italian language proficiency at B2 level or higher (CEFR);
- Be under 30 years of age on the application deadline.
Applications for the second edition are open from 3 June 2026 and close on 30 June 2026 at 12:00 p.m. (Rome time). Application procedures are described in Article 5 of the Call for Applications, which applicants are strongly encouraged to read carefully.
Renewals – First Edition (Academic Year 2025–2026)
Scholarship holders from the first edition who wish to continue their studies in the 2026–2027 academic year may apply for a scholarship renewal, provided they have earned at least 36 CFU by 30 September 2026. Renewal applications must be submitted by that date to concorsi.ammissione@uniroma4.it, together with a passport, transcript of completed examinations, and internship project.
